IBM Z and LinuxONE – A Personal Reflection

After 30+ years in the IBM Z community, one question has been on my mind recently:

Are we doing enough to showcase the career opportunities IBM Z offers the next generation of technology professionals?

Throughout my career, I’ve watched IBM Z continually evolve to support changing business and technology requirements. Today, IBM Z and LinuxONE sit at the intersection of some of the industry’s most important developments: hybrid cloud, cybersecurity, automation, AI, and modernization.

Yet I suspect many students, graduates, and early-career professionals still don’t realize the opportunities these platforms can offer, or the impact they could have working with technologies that support some of the world’s most critical businesses and services.

That’s why I wrote this blog.

It’s a personal perspective on why IBM Z remains highly relevant, why these skills continue to matter, and why I believe this ecosystem offers some of the most rewarding career opportunities in enterprise technology.
